Awareness Booth in ABC Achrafieh
KAFA has partnered up with the BLOM Beirut Marathon 2008 to use the mass event to raise awareness about the new Domestic Violence Bill.
Visit us at the Marathon booth in ABC Achrafieh from October 6 to 19 from 10am to 10pm every day to talk to one of our volunteers about the campaign and sign up to join our volunteer base! You can also get some fantastic campaign merchandise, booklets, and brochures.
Na-am Lil Hiwar hosts Kafa at 961 Beer
Join us on Monday, October 13 at 7 pm at 961 Beer in Gemmeizeh for a dialogue with two of our campaigners to discuss the family violence protection bill and how you can help in the campaign.
Leila Awada, a lawyer working with Kafa and a member of the steering committee who srafted the law will be there along with Nadine Moawad, a long-time feminist activist and currently the campaign's media coordinator.

Ministerial Statement Pledges to Legislate againt Gender-Based Violence
In an unprecendented and surprising development, the Ministerial Statement pledged to end violence against women, promising to work towards legislation in favor of women's rights. This is the second time in the history of the Lebanese government that women have been included the Minsterial Statement, and the first time ever that mention has been made to violence against women with an explicit promise for legal reform. read more »

About the Campaign
Following the recommendations of a regional meeting on the issue of legislation for the protection of women from family violence held in 2006, KAFA (enough) Violence and Exploitation has launched a long-term campaign to pressure the state to uphold its responsibility to protect all its citizens without discrimination by adopting a law that explicitly and clearly protects women from violence within the family. read more »
